Those Crazy Frogs: Torture TV.

I’m sure by now all of you know that one of the things I hate the most about France is going to La Poste. And clearly this isn’t just one of those “ex-pat issues”, because from what I can tell, French people hate going there too. Well, La Poste must have gotten wind of this fact because my tiny local Post Office recently installed a large flatscreen TV.

Ironically, the program playing on the screen was about exotic beach vacations from what I could tell. “Bonjour customers! While you’re waiting in this endless queu, feel free to torture yourself by watching beautiful images of vacations your SMIC earning sorry French ass cannot afford! Merci suckers!”

Yeah, my post office has one of those too. It sure would help if they put the subtitles on, because between cell phones ringing and people arguing, you can't hear the program.

So does the large post offices, they have a tv screen and morning television is showing.

My last to post office visits were April 15th (tax day, I I was not there to mail a tax return) and a recent Monday that was the day of a rate increase. I wish I had a YV to distract me from the wait and the fact that it took all 3 clerks on duty to rent a post office box to the person in line ahead of me.

post offices in england are just as painful to go to. very, very long queues and occasionally - shall we say - "unhelpful" staff. my philosophy is simple - if you truly hate your job, change it! please, please do not try to make my day miserable just 'cos yours is!
btw - i do not recall seeing televisions in our post offices, no. what we have is an abundance of cctv monitoring our every expression - or lack of. did you know that great britain has more cctv than any other country in the world? fact.

I'm almost afraid to enter la Poste here because it takes forever in our town... However, my trip to Cali. just revealed to me that it takes just as long at the post office there, if not longer!! UGGGH!! Wish they had some of those tv screens when I was back in Cali... Anyhow... It's good to be back in France... Take care, Leesa : )

Surely Nicolas' plan to placate the masses and distract them from the fact that they've been waiting in line for 3 hours. Much cheaper than paying the salaries of two extra staff.

Are they that much worse than Chicago's? We have the worst in america.

Doug---I'm totally surprised to hear that the post offices in Chicago are so bad. I thougth for sure they'd serve free slices of Gino's Pizza!
